OVERVIEW
THE MAX-SAFE 360° VIEW SYSTEM™ PROVIDES AN AERIAL CAMERA VIEW FOR TRUCKS AND HEAVY VEHICLES, SO DRIVERS HAVE COMPLETE VISIBILITY OF THEIR VEHICLE’S SURROUNDS. THIS PROTECTS PEOPLE AND PROPERTY THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE “UNSEEN” FROM THE DRIVER’S SEAT – AND HELPS DRIVERS TO BE BETTER AND MORE EFFICIENT.
Heavy vehicles have blind spots in all directions which can lead to personal injury accidents, as well as vehicle and property damage – both while on the road and at work sites. MAX-SAFE 360° View is a 360 camera for rigid trucks, vans, buses, and other heavy vehicles used in freight, transportation, waste management, construction, utilities and mining.
Many drivers work to a demanding schedule manoeuvring through traffic and locations or work sites where there are lots of people and other vehicles.
Drivers can see what is in proximity to the vehicle in all directions and the distances between people, objects, buildings, and other vehicles. It also makes blindspots and hazards visible to the driver.
The system operates when a vehicle is moving and or stationary, thereby improving driver efficiency via shorter turnaround times. Ultimately it reduces the risks that come from operating larger vehicles, including repair downtimes, property damage, and ensures people are safe.
KEEPING PEOPLE SAFE, KEEPING COSTS DOWN
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistic, in 2020, there were over 520,000 rigid trucks on Australian roads and 86,393 buses. These are all vehicles that could benefit from having the MAX-SAFE 360° View System installed because it provides a valuable safety and guidance tool for drivers.
Importantly, the system helps companies manage costly accident claims that may arise from collisions with people, vehicles or property, because it provides the ability to record the vehicles’s surrounds at all times.
With government measures across Australia and New Zealand targeting a reduced road toll, systems that provide a 360 camera for truck, bus and heavy vehicle fleets will likely become standard within a few years. The MAX-SAFE 360° View System can be fitted as part of new builds or retrofitted to existing trucks, buses and other heavy vehicles.
HOW THE MAX-SAFE 360° VIEW SYSTEM WORKS
The MAX-SAFE 360° View System comprises a minimum of four x 360° cameras that are positioned on the top of the four sides of a heavy vehicle, each capturing a live, streaming 180° view of the vehicle.
The powerful software blends adjacent camera images to show a real-time, 360° bird’s-eye view of the truck or vehicle surroundings on one single screen in the cabin of the vehicle.
This top-down view eliminates blind spots not seen via direct vision or mirrors. By displaying any pedestrians/workers and objects in the immediate vicinity, the system increases safety. Drivers can see the scale and distance of their vehicle and the space between it and nearby property. They are able to reverse or drive forward with confidence.
Additionally, drivers can zoom in on one of up to 15 different high-quality (high-definition) screen images for closer inspection. The system can be setup for split screens and customised to display based on the vehicle’s direction or turning status. The MAX-SAFE 360° View System uses advanced European technology and supports:
- A digital video recorder
- 12/24V vehicles
- VGA/SVGA format or composite video
- Customisation
- Left, right signal triggers
- Reverse and speed triggers
- Split screen options
